A great modernist gaze into the ennui and inertia of uncertain youth, by an author dead of a heart attack before he was even Now I know that many schools of literary criticism teach that context, author’s intent, and so on are irrelevant, but it seems to me that knowing that this book was dangerous in its time and that distributing it was an act of real courage, adds immeasurably to my appreciation and admiration of the work.
Citoki won a copy of this book during a Goodreads giveaway. No trivia or quizzes yet. If you try to force it to be a single coherent tale you have a demanding task ahead of you.

It starts out aimless and drifts into darker and darker humor before heading into the unapologetically surreal. Eric Junatra rated it it was amazing Apr 27, Jul 18, Kitty Austin rated it really liked it. Our hero’s half-hearted exchange in a confessional is brutal.
Shortly thereafter, his first poetry collection wa Andrzej Bursa March 21, — November 15, was a Polish poet and writer. Once again it crossed my mind that the annihilation of the corpse was harder than might generally be believed, that the struggle was tough and the adversary brave. I did also get a little confused toward the end.
In the end, I think a nightmare. The Dedalus book of Polish Fantasy. Instantly immersive, funny and clever, follows protagonists train of thought without forfeiting poetic justice JD Salinger could’ve picked up a thing or two from this book, in my opinion. I realized with absolute clarity that the only real thing was the corpse, at once a millstone around my neck and my lifeline.
